Walking Home

Walking Home

(Trish Jean)

I’m round and red
A toffee apple
Coated by humidity
I could peel off
Read the daily news
Captured
The dust and sweat and effort
Written right there
Cracked by grins
My too short hair
Doesn’t stop
Rivulets of personal rain
It slides off my face
As I stop to
Catch shadows
Stories on the sidewalk
A cooler offering
To inhabit
