Becoming Me

Inspired by an artwork (of the same title, photo above) by Michaela Simoni, a fellow member of the Auburn Artists Network. Her piece is part of the exhibition “Turning Point” that was launched today at the Peacock Gallery.

Becoming Me

(Trish Jean)

Becoming
The tightening
Til tautness flew
In the snap
Of the violin string

Softening
A new sound
The resonant hum
Of new places and hands
On the frets that
stories tell

Timeless
Run your hands
Along my side
The body is changed
The fiddler now sits

Sentry
Not plucking stormy
In perfect fifths
Grace a new metaphor
Four strings
Faith bows
